Diorite telescopic carbon fiber pole is a rare and uncompromising hiking pole. The staff said, "It is the strongest all carbon structure we have ever tested, with a strong stretch length, which is a godsend for waterproof guided hikers." The first thing the testers noticed was that although the carbon fiber pole looked and felt like an over built aluminum pole, its weight was limited to less than 8 ounces - the weight limit typically reserved for folding quick pack poles.
Most ultra light carbon poles of this weight class require Babbitt alloy. In contrast, even though a few testers slid down the steep sandy slopes of the Salmon River Mountains in Idaho, this lever still boosted people's confidence. Super long EVA foam (also cork) is very comfortable to hold, and there is no need to stop to readjust the length of the rod on steep slopes. The sturdy locking mechanism and individual rod segments and tips are replaceable.
