Preferred choice for ocean mooring ropes: para aramid mooring ropes

As one of the components of ship mooring equipment, mooring ropes play an extremely important role in maintaining the safety of dock facilities, maintaining the stability of ships or work platforms, and ensuring operational safety.

Due to the unique operating environment of ships, mooring ropes are used in harsh conditions such as high salinity, high humidity, high strength, and high temperature for a long time, which requires extremely high performance requirements for the corrosion resistance, tensile strength, and weather resistance of the rope materials. From the perspective of economic benefits, cable materials also need to have sustainable utilization values such as maintenance free and easy recycling.

Sinochem International has customized the development of para aramid materials based on the performance requirements of mooring ropes. The surface of para aramid fibers has been treated with anti seawater corrosion, anti microbial and anti UV properties, and a customized application solution for high modulus synthetic fibers (HMSF) for para aramid mooring ropes has been developed. This ensures that para aramid fibers maintain stable performance in marine environments, greatly improving the corrosion and aging resistance of mooring rope materials and effectively extending the service life of the ropes.

Compared with existing mooring line materials, para aramid fibers have significant advantages in performance:

① Strong high temperature resistance and low loss of fracture strength in high-temperature environments.

② The correlation between creep and stress is low, and the risk of fracture is lower during long-term high-strength use.

③ Strong fatigue resistance, with no decrease in strength during high-frequency use.
